it’s time we made all corporations pay their fair share in bribes to Republican politicians.

For too long in this country, there’s been a great injustice in what huge multinational corporations contribute. Highly profitable companies like Apple reaped a windfall of almost $48 billion from the just-signed GOP tax bill. But what did they really do to deserve it? They gave a mere half-million dollars to Republican campaigns in 2016.

This is a national outrage. People should be out in the streets demanding that corporations, if they’re going to get so much money, properly bribe the legislators that made it happen. Sure, there’s one or two like Goldman Sachs or General Electric that gave over $20 million in 2016 campaign contributions, but how is this system fair to them? They did all the work handing off briefcases full of cash to Republican operatives in parking garages, yet they only get $21 billion combined to show for it.

Shame on you, Apple. Shame on IBM, a company with a decades-long track record of helping various governments. Somehow, they could only spare less than $3 million to defeat radical leftists who would rather spend money on fighting for the right of the impoverished to have access to legalized loan sharks.

Clearly, the free market isn’t going to solve this problem itself. Historically, it’s only thrown these politicians scraps: a couple hundred thousand dollars here and there, or a promise of a multi-million dollar do-nothing consulting job once the weary politician finally retires. Private charities are no solution; United Way somehow hasn’t realized that all people are truly worth helping, whether they’re impoverished youths or the people trying to keep them that way.

No, only government can provide a real solution. It’s time that we campaign for real equality where it matters most: making sure that Republicans who take us trillions into debt get directly paid for it, too.

*receives message in earpiece* ok they might be doing that already
